Three years ago Pati taught 20 Tips to 1200 people at Expo. This year she is offering 20 MORE tips. Many sewers learned to sew without classes. Pati will focus on perfecting garment details such as collars, waistbands, facings, zippers and more. She will also review what’s new in fit and interfacing choices in relation to today’s fashions. Pati creates her seminars while she is sewing to have a constant reminder of what is truly important to the quality of the final product. This seminar will be available on a CD in 2010 so teachers everywhere can teach this great class like they did the first 20 Tips. Go to www.palmerpletsch.com for info and a copy of the FREE newsletter, Fashion for REAL People.

#213 - Pati Palmer on Pants Fitting

    Pati Palmer

    Saturday, 8:30-10:15am Room F Showplex

Pati Palmer, designer for McCall’s Patterns and their FIT EXPERT, will select four people from the audience who are willing to be tissue-fitted (wear underwear that covers well). She will measure the person, talk about how she picked the size, put them in the tissue from one of her McCall’s pant patterns, decide on the alterations, demo how to make the alterations, and re-fit the person until finished. This will include reshaping the crotch seam if necessary. After fitting four different body types, she will fit one of the four people in her jeans pattern to show how to fit a pant with lots of parts. She will be telling you her decision-making thought process on each body type. If you are willing to be one of the four, send your hip measurement and a photo to patipalmer@aol.com so she can choose a variety of shapes, including challenging ones. She will prepare a pattern for the four people chosen. You won’t know who you are until you come to the class. Pati teaches 4-day Palmer/Pletsch Pant Sewing Vacations in Portland, Oregon. See www.palmerpletsch.com for our workshop schedule.
